Kanifing District

Kanifing ( spelling variant: Kanifeng ) is a district of the municipality Kanifing (English Kanifing Municipal) in the West African nation of Gambia.

The district is located in the center of the community and belongs to the town Serekunda. In the census of 1993 Kanifing was not listed as a separate place.

Geography

Bakau New Town (or Fajara ), a district of Bakau, located adjacent to the north and north-east, the boundary is defined by the Bertil Harding Highway, which runs east. Part of an area is south of the Bertil Harding Highway counted yet to Fajara. To the east lies Old Jeshwang, the Jimpex Road to check out the border between the two districts in the south dar. Kanifing is limited by the Banjul - Serekunda Highway, south is New Jeshwang. The district Latri Kunda is located adjacent to the west, the boundary is defined by the Kairaba Avenue, which runs from the northwest to the southeast.

Economy

In Kanifing and Old Jeshwang is the center of industry and economy of Gambia, numerous establishments such as the Banjul Breweries have their headquarters here, too, the television station of Gambia, the Gambia Radio & Television Services has its headquarters here with the studio. In Kanifing be found, for example, builders' merchants and car dealers.
