Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. She is hairy only slightly woolly. The young green leaves are bronze-colored speckled ( Anthocyanflecken ).
  • The medium-sized leaves are usually three-lobed. The petiole is closed. The leaf surface (also called lamina ) is only slightly blistered.
  • The grape is small to medium in size and moderately dichtbeerig. The broadly elliptical berries are medium to large in size and of a yellow-green color. The aroma of the berry is almost neutral.

The early maturing variety whose maturity date is only slightly behind that of the Good Dels, is susceptible to powdery mildew and downy mildew. Less susceptible is the kind against gray mold. The maturity of the wood is flawed and causes a poor winter hardiness.

Chancellor is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is thus self- fruiting. When the wine-growing economic drawback is avoided, no return delivered to male plants need to grow.
