Kaori Icho

Kaori Icho (Japanese伊 调 馨, Kaori Icho, born June 13, 1984 in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, Japan ) is a Japanese wrestler. She is Olympic champion 2004, 2008 and 2012 and eight -time world champion in the weight class up to 63 kg bodyweight ( middleweight).

Career

Kaori Icho comes from a Ringer family and was taken away by her older sister Chiharu for training at the age of three years. From playful initial operation soon grew this serious training. During the visit, the Choja middle school she reached two consecutive title wins at the national secondary school championships of women. In her high school Kaori Icho time belonged to the wrestling club operated by the Chūkyō woman Shigakuhan University High School in Nagoya. Soon they counted as a junior to the best young wrestlers in Japan and in 2002 it was the first time Japanese champion in the senior in the weight class up to 63 kg body weight (bw ). In this weight class they also denied all of their other competitions. During her studies she started for the wrestling club of Chūkyō - Women's University. Since 2007 she has been in the wrestling club of the security company Alsok Sogo Hosho Keibi ( Alsok综合 警备 保障). In the National Team of Women, to which it belongs since 2002, she is coached by Kazuhito Sakae.

In 2002, the international career of Kaori Icho began. It was used at the Asian Games in Busan. She arrived there in the finals against the Chinese Xu Haiyan, where she succumbed to this just after points, and took 2nd place. By the year 2009, this was the only defeat that Kaori Icho, suffered up to a peculiarity in the Asian Championships in 2007, on the wrestling mat.

In 2002 she was in Chalkida / Greece for the first time world champion. They defeated among others with Sara McMann from the United States, Lene Aanes from Norway and Sara Eriksson from Sweden three world-class athletes. In 2003, Kaori Icho defended her world title in New York City successfully. In the finals, they had to fight in this battle hard against Sara McMann, to come to a tight point victory (4:3 techn. In their native weight class Kaori Icho defeated there Golowchenko Ludmila from Ukraine, Alyona Kartaschowa from Russia, Lise Golliot - Legrand from France and Sara McMann, the victory over Sara McMann was very close again (3:2 technical points). She was awarded the honorary prize of the citizens of Hachinohe, the honorary prize of the citizens of Aomori Prefecture, the sports merit award of Aichi Prefecture and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, as well as the Order of Merit on the purple band.

On Sara McMann Kaori Icho met at the 2005 World Championships in Budapest in her first fight. She won it again just on points ( 5:3 technical points). Your other opponents, Helena Allandi from Sweden, Anna Polownewa from Russia and Jing Ruixue from China defeated superior on points. Overall, they scored it 16-0 technical points.

In 2006 she was given the opportunity to reciprocate in the Chinese Xu Haiyan for the defeat at the Asian Games in 2002 at the Asian Games in Doha. She succeeded impressively with a clear points victory. Also in the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou, China succeeded in her fight for victory a points victory over Xu Haiyan (2-0 technical points). In 2007, it came at the Asian Championships in Bishkek to a little scandal for which the sisters Kaori Icho Chiharo and ensured. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Kaori Icho repeated their success of Athens. She became Olympic champion again with four wins. When their toughest opponent this proved to be in the quarterfinals the Canadian Martine Dugrenier who managed to take off her round. Kaori Icho won the fight against Martine Dugrenier 2-1 rounds at 2:2 technical points. The final battle, she won sure about the Russian woman Aliona Kartaschowa.

Since only competitions took place at the Olympic Games in Beijing in the women in four weight classes, the International Wrestling Federation FILA held in October 2008 in Tokyo and World Championships for women. Kaori Icho renounced it, as it did for the Japanese Championships 2008, to a participation in favor of her compatriot million Nishimaki, the world champion was also.

In December 2013 Kaori Icho launched in the Japanese Championship, surprisingly, in the weight class up to 59 kg and got there her 10th Japanese championship, where they defeated in the final battle Kazuki Sakagami.
