The Kappelberg is 469 m above sea level. NN high mountain slopes of virgin forest south of Fellbach (Rems -Murr- Kreis, Baden -Württemberg, Germany ).

Geography and transport

The Kappelberg is the northwestern foothills of the mostly heavily wooded virgin forest. To the north of the mountain lies Fellbach, east-northeast nuclei in the Rems valley, southeast is the cores, southwest Rotenberg district to the west and Württemberg Stuttgart- Luginsland.

Due to the northern flank of the mountain Kappel results in the context of Kappelberg tunnel, a portion of B 14 and past the side of the mountain is also a section of the national road "L 1198 ", each connecting Fellbach Stuttgart. The mountain can be reached on foot from the surrounding villages and mountains.

Landscape and history

The name Kappelberg stems from a pilgrimage chapel, which was demolished in 1819. While the highest altitudes of the mountain are forested, located on its slopes vineyards. The wine-growing areas are managed primarily by members of the wine cooperative Fellbacher husbandman. On the remains of a Kappelberg secured by ramparts and ditches Fliehburg from prehistoric times are available. On the southern slope below the ridge lies the nature and landscape protection area Kappelberg.
