Kari Rueslåtten

Kari Rueslåtten ( born October 3, 1973) is a Norwegian singer.

Life

Kari Rueslåtten 1993 was co-founder and singer of The 3rd and the Mortal, which is often rumored to have the foundations laid for Gothic Metal with female vocals, which then quickly gained popularity by bands like Theatre of Tragedy. Previously, she had already sung in several bands of various genres as a guest. She took with The 3rd and the Mortal but only a demo (1993 ), the EP Sorrow and the album Tears Laid In Earth ( both 1994) on. After that, she left the band.

As recently as 1994, she worked together with the two black metal musicians Fenriz ( Darkthrone ) and Satyr ( Satyricon ) in the project Storm. The result was the album Nordavind, which combines traditional Norwegian folk songs with elements of black metal.

Kari Rueslåttens first solo demo was released in 1995 and was also a folk inspired, but musically minimal and consisted mostly of keyboard ambient pieces in Norwegian and English. This demo recordings were released two years later under the name of Sony Demo Recordings Norway as a CD. Their first full-length album was spindle sense ( 1997), a musically diverse album with folk pieces, this time entirely in Norwegian, with the usual lyrical for folk penchant for nature romance. With this album, she was nominated for the Norwegian Grammy for best female singer, as well as for the hit Award for best artist.

In the following year appeared a bit more modern -sounding album, Mesmerized, on the Kari Rueslåtten separates a little from a pure acoustic and keyboard folk. Then they went on for some years to London, England, and studied music production. 2002 then appeared on the Swedish label GMR Music her comeback album pilot that has been licensed for marketing in the German-speaking world to the label Prophecy Productions. In 2003, she joined the first and only time on outside their home country, namely at two concerts in Russia. Her latest album is Other People's Stories ( 2005). This album was released in a special edition of 2007 with a new title and two remixes.
