Karl Friedrich Reiche

Karl Friedrich Reiche ( Spanish Carlos Reiche; born October 31, 1860 in Dresden, † February 26, 1929 in Munich) was a German botanist and university professor in Chile and Mexico. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " rich ".

Life

Rich received his doctorate in 1885 in Leipzig with the conclusion of Dr. phil. He was korrespondiertes member of the German Botanical Society.

Rich was a professor in Mexico; he also worked at the National Museum of Santiago de Chile. Rich explored the flora of Mexico and Chile. For the work " The natural plant families" of Adolf Engler and Prantl Carl in the first edition ( 1890-1897 ), he wrote Contributions to numerous plant families.

After the kingdom of the plant genera Reichea are (today Myrcianthes ) was named from the myrtle family, Reichenecactus from the cactus family and empires Ella from the carnation family.
