Karłowice, Opole Voivodeship

Karłowice ( German: Karl Markt ) is a village in the municipality Popielów (Alt Poppelau ) in the powiat of Opole Opole Voivodeship in Lower Silesia.

Karłowice is located seven kilometers north of the parish seat Popielów (Alt Poppelau ) and 29 kilometers northwest of the county town of Opole and voivodship.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1344 as " Kertzendorf ". In 1712 the town name was changed to Karl market.

1933 lived 1,208 residents in the town. 1939, the place had 1,161 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district Brieg in district Breslau. Karl market was occupied on 22 January 1945 by the Red Army.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Karłowice. The German population was expelled and Poland settled. From 1945 to 1954, from 1973 to 1975 the city was the seat of the municipality Karłowice. In 1946, the place to Wroclaw voivodship, 1950 for Opole Voivodeship. 1999, the site was assigned to the re-established powiat Opolski.
