Karolina Westberg

Karolina Westberg ( born May 16, 1978 in Kristianstad ) is a Swedish football player. The defender played for the Swedish club Umea IK in the Damallsvenskan and in the Swedish national team.

Career

Westberg began playing football at Skillinge IF. In 1999, she moved to Malmö FF Dam. Here she played until 2004 before they moved to Umeå IK. With their new club they won in 2006 and 2007, the Swedish Championship. In addition, she ran in the finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League 2006/07. The duel against Arsenal LFC but ultimately they lost.

Westberg debuted shortly after her 19th birthday on 21 May 1997 in a 2-0 win over the Russian national team in the Swedish national selection. She participated in the 1999 World Cup and reached the tournament in 2003 with the selection of the final, which lost the Swedish team against Germany. Also at the 2007 World Championships she was in the squad, but came only in the 1-2 defeat against North Korea for use. In addition, she participated in the 2000 Olympic Games and 2004.
