Kate Maclean

Kate Maclean (born 1958 in Dundee) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Political career

Before her election to the Scottish Parliament Maclean was already Between 1988 and 1996 a member of the Regional Council of Dundee and then from 1995 to 1999 the City Council of Dundee. In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Maclean candidate in the constituency of West Dundee. Although the Labour Party could decide the appropriate constituency for the House of Commons at the 1997 General Election with a clear lead for themselves, Maclean won the direct mandate for the Scottish Parliament with only a small margin of 121 votes. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 Maclean managed to extend their lead and defend their mandate despite vocal losses. At the 2007 parliamentary elections they no longer came on. The mandate of the constituency won Joe FitzPatrick of the SNP.
