Kay Kendall

Kay Kendall ( born May 21, 1926 in Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, England; † September 6, 1959 in London; native Justine Kay Kendall McCarthy) was a British actress.

Career

Kay Kendall comes from an acting dynasty and was already known as an eight year old in ballet. She began her career at the London Palladium. Later it formed a joint show number along with her sister.

Her film debut was in 1943., But only at the beginning of the 1950s it was with films like The fiery Isabella: But, enforce Doctor as a successful actress.

In 1956 Kay Kendall an offer to Hollywood and starred in Les Girls, directed by George Cukor on the side of Gene Kelly. For his role in this film, she was honored in 1958 together with her colleague Taina Elg film Golden Globe Award. She played her last role opposite Yul Brynner in 1959 in Old Feeling.

Kay Kendall was married from 1957 until her death, with actor Rex Harrison. Her siblings are actors Cavan Kendall and Kim Campbell. She died of leukemia.
