Kayes Region
Kayes is an administrative region of Mali with 1,996,812 inhabitants. Its capital is the same Kayes, more cities are Nioro du Sahel and Bafoulabé.
Ethnic groups in Kayes are the Khassonke, Malinke, Soninke and Fulbe.
Geography
The Kayes Region is located in western Mali, adjacent to Guinea, Senegal and Mauritania. The climate is relatively humid climate in the south over Sudanese relations to the Sahel region in the north over.
In Bafoulabé the rivers Bafing and Bakoyé unite to Senegal.
History
At the beginning of the 19th century here was the Kingdom of Khasso.
