Keit Pentus-Rosimannus

Keit Pentus - Rosimannus ( born Keit Pentus; born March 3, 1976 in Tallinn) is an Estonian politician. She's since April 5, 2011 Environment Minister of the Republic of Estonia.

Life and Politics

Keit Pentus visited the Tallinn Music High School ( Tallinna Muusikakeskkool ), from which she graduated in piano. She then studied until 1995 at an Estonian private school. In 2000, she put her bachelor exam in administrative and Europe studies at the Tallinn Pedagogical University (now University of Tallinn ) from. From 2000 to 2004 she studied Political Science at Tartu University, but left the university without a degree.

Since the mid- 1990s, Pentus committed to the liberal Reform Party ( Reformierakond ). She joined the party in 1998. From 1999 to 2007 Pentus was a member of the City Council of the Estonian capital Tallinn. 2001/2002 she was in the Justice Department and 2002/2003 was in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia active. From 2003 to 2005, Pentus district mayor of the district of Tallinn Kesklinn ( " Tallinn city center ").

2005 Pentus was office manager of the newly elected Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip. In the 2007 General Election she could for the Reform Party win a direct mandate in the Riigikogu and moved as deputies in parliament. She was leader of the Reform Party in Parliament during the legislative session. From June 2009 to April 2011 she was First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Keit Pentus counts as the successor of Jaanus Tamkivi ( also Reform Party ) Environment Minister in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Ansip. She was appointed on 5 April 2011 by President Toomas Hendrik Ilves. The same office she has held in the new government of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas since March of 2014.

Private life

Keit Pentus is married with Rain Rosimannus. She is the sister of the Estonian racer Sten Pentus (* 1980).
