Keith Brown (politician)

Keith Brown ( born December 20, 1961 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Brown studied at the University of Dundee and then joined the Royal Marines to serve in the Falklands War. Over a period of 15 years he worked for the municipal government of Stirling. In addition, he was involved in the trade union UNISON. Brown is the father of three children and currently lives in dollars.

Political career

For the European elections in 1994 Brown joined the SNP in the election Lothian. He could, however, only the second highest number of votes behind the candidate of the Labour Party, David Martin to be vereinen.Im April 1994 Brown stepped up to the next election for the Regional Council of Clackmannanshire and could decide his election district Alva for themselves. Overall, he was eleven years working for the Regional and sat him between 1999 and 2003. For the Scottish Parliament elections in 2007 was a candidate for the constituency of Ochil Brown, which his party colleague George Reid won in the previous election for themselves. Reid did not start on this. Brown became the direct mandate of the constituency by a margin of 500 votes against the candidate of the Labour Party and moved for the first time in the Scottish Parliament. From February 2009 to December 2010 served Brown as State Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning. Since December 2010 he is the current Secretary of State for Housing and Transport. As part of the reform constituency Browns Ochil constituency was dissolved. At the 2011 parliamentary elections, he took up the succession circle Clackmannanshire and Dunblane and secured the direct mandate with a clear lead before the candidate of the Labour Party, Richard Simpson.
