Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu (born 17 December 1948 in Ballıca, Tunceli ) is a Turkish politician and since 2010 President of the Socialist CHP, the main opposition group in the Turkish parliament.

Life

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu comes from the Alevi family Cebeligiller. Kemal's father changed based on the nickname ( lakab ) his own father to the family name in 1950 in Kılıçdaroğlu.

Elementary and middle school he attended in Ercis, Tunceli, Genç and Elazig. Kılıçdaroğlu graduated in 1971 an economic Bachelor studies at the Academy of Economic and Administrative Sciences in Ankara ( Gazi Üniversitesi ). Later, he was until 1983 the Ministry of Finance in the accounting manager. He also spent a year in France. Kılıçdaroğlu is since 1974 married to Selvi Kılıçdaroğlu and father of three children. In 1983 he became general with respect to income of the Treasury. In 1991 he was Director General of the Social Security Bağ cure, a year later he moved again as Director General for Social Insurance Institution ( SSK), where he served until January 1999.

Policy

In the parliamentary elections in 2002, and in the subsequent elections in 2007, he was elected founded as a candidate for the electoral district of Istanbul for 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk secular Republican People's Party CHP in the Great National Assembly deputies. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was given by the Turkish, but also the international press because of his quiet nature and outer resemblance to Mahatma Gandhi nicknamed Gandi Kemal.

Kılıçdaroğlu has been in the media thus known that he examined embezzlement and used against corruption in administration and internal politics of Turkey. Among the suspects were high-ranking politicians in the ACP as Şaban Dişli, Mir Mehmet Fırat Dengir and Melih Gökçek. The CHP put him in the local elections in Turkey in 2009 as a candidate for the office of mayor of Istanbul. He defeated the incumbent mayor and AKP politicians Kadir Topbaş.

22 May 2010 Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was elected to the 33rd Congress of the CHP with 100% of the valid votes cast for the 7th party chairman. In the 2011 general election on June 12, the CHP was under his chairmanship second largest with 25.95 percent share of the vote and 135 deputies Party of the 24th legislative period of the Turkish Parliament. Kılıçdaroğlus election was at home and abroad, viewed as a signal that the CHP, which has recently been noticed especially by nationalist rhetoric, would return to a truly left and social democratic politics.

In August 2010, Kılıçdaroğlu said the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK ): "These are terrorists who are not interested in a constructive solution. We know that, and the PKK knows it. "

In November 2011, urged Kılıçdaroğlu that Turkey must face up to their past and to apologize for the killing of 13,806 Kurds in the context of a campaign to put down the Dersim rebellion in the years 1937-1939 in the present province of Tunceli, then Dersim. On August 30, 2012 Kılıçdaroğlu was elected vice-president of the Socialist International (SI).

On May 15, 2013, a meeting with the Chairman of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament Hannes Swoboda ( SPÖ) was canceled because Kılıçdaroğlu the increasingly authoritarian course of Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan sharply criticized and this called a dictator. Kılıçdaroğlu said at a press conference in Brussels that the difference in democracy between Syria's rulers Bashar al -Assad and Prime Minister Erdoğan exists only in shades.
