Kenneth Scott Latourette

Kenneth Scott Latourette ( born August 6 1884 in Oregon City, † December 26, 1968 ibid ) was American sinologist, historian, and mission scientists. His most famous work was published under the title History of the Expansion of Christianity ( 1937-1945 ).

Life

The son of the lawyer DeWitt Clinton Latourette and teacher Rhoda ( Scott) Latourette studied at Linfield College in Oregon, where he graduated in 1904 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Then joined to a 1907 study of history on. From 1910 to 1912 he worked in the office of the University in Changsha, China. Due to health problems Latourette returned to the United States and taught at various universities, including at Reed College. After his return from China, he turned to the history of Christianity as a new field of activity in addition to Sinology.
