Kenneth Sivertsen (skier)

Kenneth Sivertsen ( born August 31, 1973 in Ankenesstrand ) is a retired Norwegian alpine skier. He started mainly in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G and giant slalom.

Career

First international experience gained Sivertsen at the Junior World Championships in 1991 and 1992. On January 13, 1995 he played his first World Cup race in the challenging downhill on the Streif in Kitzbühel. The first World Cup points, he won three days later with rank 23 in the Super -G at the same location. The 1995/96 season began for the Norwegians with the surprisingly good ninth place in the departure of Vail. However, this result could not be repeated for a long time, even at the World Championships in 1996 and 1997, he did not come as a 25th rank out. In the European Cup however, he succeeded in the Super -G in the Spanish Sierra Nevada on 20 February 1998 and his first victory in the second super-G on the same day he finished second. He came in the final standings to third place in the Super -G. Only in the 1998/99 season Sivertsen was three times again finish among the top ten and reached at the World Championship in eleventh place in the Super - G and the twelfth in the downhill at the World Cup. Also in the 1999/2000 season he reached three times the top 10.

The World Cup season 2000/ 01 was the most successful for Sivertsen: On December 3, he celebrated in the Super G in Beaver Creek finished third his first podium and was able to repeat this result to end the season in the downhill for Åre. But at the World Championships in St. Anton he managed only a 20th place in the Super -G, downhill and giant slalom he fell out. In the 2001 /02 season, he could not join last year's good results and only once reached the top 10. At the Olympic Winter Games in 2002 his best result was 19th place in the Super -G. In the season 2002/ 03 he went twice in the top 20 before he crashed on December 29th in the downhill in Bormio and had to finish the season. 2003/ 04 it reached only once the points, on 10 January 2004, he drove his last race.

Overall Sivertsen denied in ten World Cup Seasons 139 races (76 runs, 41 Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom 21 ), came twelve times in the top ten and twice on the podium. In addition, he once took part in the Olympic Games and four World Championships.
