Kenny G

Kenneth Gorelick ( born June 5, 1956 in Seattle ), better known by his stage name Kenny G, is an American soprano saxophonist.

Career

At 17 he began playing in Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra. He studied at the University of Washington. Since 1981, Kenny G released several solo albums and collaborated with Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Aretha Franklin. The breakthrough came in 1986 with Kenny G his fourth album duotones. 1994, Kenny G won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition for Forever in Love. Particular success with his hits recorded Kenny G Songbird and Waiting for You.

Kenny G also played with the Rippingtons and was also represented on several soundtracks, including The Bodyguard, Pretty Woman, the Disney - Pixar animated film Cars, with the film music of Dying Young ( with film music producer James Newton Howard ), he played the saxophone.

Since the album Breathless (1992 ) Kenny G worked with his friend and producer Walter Afanasieff together ( inter alia ' My Heart Will Go On " / Celine Dion or " Hero " / Mariah Carey ).

2011 Gorelick joined in the extended version of the music video "Last Friday Night" by Katy Perry as Uncle Kenny.
