The Keswick Movement (English Keswick Convention ) is an annual interdenominational meetings evangelical -minded Christians in the English town of Keswick in the northern English county of Cumbria.

History

The Keswick movement has its origins in the English Holiness the 19th century and is rooted theologically in the Wesleyan holiness teaching of Methodism and consists mainly of Bible courses and lectures to promote the " sanctification by faith." The first meeting was in 1874 at the suggestion of Robert Pearsall Smith and Hannah Whitall Smith his wife in Broadlands instead. Subsequent meetings were then held in Oxford in 1874 and 1875 in Brighton. Since 1875 (the year except 1939-1945 ) is the annual meeting held in Keswick.

Teaching

The Keswick movement raises fundamental beliefs against controversial subjects such as eschatology forth. There are close links with religious missions, such as the China Inland Mission.
