Kevin Goldthwaite

Kevin Patrick " Goldie " Goldthwaite ( born December 9, 1982 in Sacramento, California) is an American football player at the position of a defender. He currently plays for the Portland Timbers in the top division in the North American Soccer, Major League Soccer (MLS ).

Career

Youth and Amateur Football

Goldthwaite began his active career as a football player in 2001 at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. He was on the All- Big East Second Team in 2003, and in the All- Big East First Team of the Year 2004. Moreover, Goldie was semi-finalist in the competition for the preservation of the Hermann Trophy. In his senior year at the University he came in a game of amateur football clubs Indiana Invaders in the USL Premier Development League action.

Club career

His professional career began in 2005 when he was drafted as the 17th pick to the San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer in the MLS SuperDraft. After the Draft Goldie became the Portland Timbers awarded in the USL First Division, where he came to a total of ten missions in the current season. He also ran in eight reserve games for the Earthquakes to the square and had two appearances in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. After only ten championship stakes and leaving the Portland Timbers in the playoffs Goldthwaite returned to the San Jose Earthquakes, where he was employed in three regular games.

Along with some of his teammates, he moved in 2006 to Houston Dynamo, where he came to some missions from 2006 to 2007. By the end of the 2007 season, he managed a total of 21 completed games. His biggest success was the preservation of the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy after winning the MLS Cup in 2006.

In MLS SuperDraft 2008 Goldthwaite was drafted in exchange for Richard Mulrooney for Toronto FC. For the Canadians, he came to nine competitive stakes, scoring in a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Fire SC, the first victory of the teams in the first short story club, the first goal of his career to date. On 25 June 2007 Goldie transferred in exchange for Todd Dunivant to the New York Red Bulls. After only nine games to Goldthwaite injured his left knee and was eliminated due to injury until the end of the season. In the 2008 season he led with 2,438 minutes of game completed a field player to the team stats and team was internally named the Defender of the Year. 2008, the season was in one of the lead players in the Red Bulls. He reached the finals with the team to the MLS Cup. During the 2009 season, he was injured again and came up with only 19 bets.

He rebounded in 2010, not from his injuries and was released on 6 August 2010 by the New York Red Bulls, to make room in the squad. So the New Yorker could oblige the Mexican Rafael Márquez. On 25 August 2010, he joined the Portland Timbers in the USSF Division -2 Professional League. After the Timbers had the game ceased operations at the end of the 2010 season, he was transferred to the newly formed MLS franchise.
