Kevin Sawyer

Kevin John Sawyer ( born February 21, 1974 in Christina Lake, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, who in during his active career, among others, for the St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim the National Hockey League has played.

Career

Kevin Sawyer first played in the 1991/92 season for the Grand Forks Border Bruins in a unterklassigen Canadian junior league. In the same season he was also active for three other teams. For the 1992/93 season, the Canadian debut for the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League and ran in 62 games of the regular season on the ice, where he recorded seven points scorer and spent 274 minutes in the penalty box. The player is employed as the enforcer in his preferred role was appointed to the 1994/95 season to the team captain of the Spokane Chiefs. In the same season he led with 365 penalty minutes in 54 games of the regular season, the Western Hockey League game. Since he had never been drafted, Sawyer was after completing his junior time available as so-called free agent and eventually signed at the end February 1995 a contract with the St. Louis Blues. In the 1995/96 season he made his debut for the Blues in the National Hockey League and completed six games, but played most of the season in the AHL farm team at the Worcester IceCats.

After a year in the organization of the St. Louis Blues of the links gunman was transferred to the Boston Bruins. This constituted the winger in the farm team for the Providence Bruins, where he ran aground on a regular basis. Also in the organization of the Dallas Stars did not succeed, to fight for a place in the NHL squad, so the Canadians played the entire season with the Michigan K- Wings of the International Hockey League. There followed an unsuccessful return to St. Louis, where Sawyer graduated no match for the team and instead was active for the Worcester IceCats. Another NHL milestone in his career were in the 1999/2000 season, the Phoenix Coyotes before Cummins signed as a free agent with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in July 2000. This put him at first mainly in the farm team for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks one before Sawyer for the first time received regular playing time at an NHL team in the 2001/ 02 season. The ensuing season was limited to only 31 bits since the Enforcer had suffered a concussion in a game against the Los Angeles Kings. In August 2003, he declared his career officially ended.

After end of his career as an active player Sawyer was from 2004 to 2006 as an assistant coach with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League.
