The Khalkha (Mongolian Халхын гол, Chalchyn gol; Chinese哈拉哈 河, Pinyin Halaha He), sometimes also listed as Chalch, is a 233 km long river in Mongolia and China in East Asia. With regard to the length he stands at 23 out of the rivers of Mongolia. The Khalkha has its origins in the Great Hinggan Mountains. It first flows in a northerly direction, then turns west and leaves the mountains. It passes through the region of Hulun Buir Chinese in Inner Mongolia and the Mongolian Dornod Aimag. The river runs along a part of the border. Finally, the river reaches the east coast of Lake Buir Nur and empties into this.

At the Khalkha was in 1939 one of the biggest battles in the Sino- Soviet border conflict between the Kwantung Army of Japan, which had at this time occupied Northeast China, and the Red Army of the Soviet Union instead.
