Khamseh

The Khamseh are a predominantly Turkic ethnic group in Iran ( Fars Province ). They consist of a confederation of five tribes of nomadic single Arab, Iranian and Turkish origin. The religion after the Khamseh both Sunni and Shia. The Khamseh are often referred to by the Turkish side as " Hamse Türkmenler ", ie as " Turkmen ".

The Khamseh are also known for their high quality, hand -made rugs.

Origin of the name

The name Khamseh comes from Arabic and means "five" (Arabic خمسة Kamsa ).

History

The Khamseh were a part of a large federation of nomads in Iran, where they were dominated by the Qashqai in the 19th century. In this Federation Khamseh formed 1861/62 from their own tribal alliance.

With under the Taifeh be attributed to the Khamseh.

In the Iranian census of 1932, the Turkish Baharlu 8000, the Aynallu 5000 and Nafar accounted for 3,500 families. The Persian-language Basseri then had 3,000 families. The largest group with the Arabs about 13,000 families.
