Khongorzul

Khongorzul Ganbaatar or Khongorzul (Mongolian Ганбаатарын Хонгорзул, Ganbaataryn Chongordsul; born 7 April 1973) is a Mongolian Urtyn - duu - singer.

Khongorzul grew up in the Mongolian province of Khentii, where she met the traditional Mongolian Urtyn duu (long song ), a type of singing in which each syllable of the text is stretched so long that a period of several minutes song can consist of ten words. She applied to the Khan - Khentii Folk Music Ensemble and was admitted as a member.

A professional music training she acquired only from 1998 at the University of Ulaanbaatar. In the same year she won the competition of professional Urtyn - duu singer. Since then she appeared in Ulaanbaatar as a soloist with the Mongolian national theater for dance and folk song and traditional music and dance theater.

She has toured in the United States, Russia, Japan and China and several countries in Europe.
