Kiemławki Małe

Kiemławki Małe ( German Klein Kämlack ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. It belongs to the mayor's office in the municipality Podławki Barciany, powiat Kętrzyński.

Geography

The village is situated nine kilometers northwest of the city center Kętrzyns about 60 meters above the sea level. Barciany is located seven kilometers north of Kiemławki Małe. About 20 kilometers north runs the border of Poland to Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast.

History

Today's Kiemławki Małe 1340 was mentioned as Kelmolauken. The name refers to the vegetation: Old Prussian " kelmis " ( hat), Lithuanian " kelmas " ( collective term for mushrooms, tree stumps, hollow tree, but also for all the plants that are in the ground or planted ) and " Laukas " ( Acker, field).
