Kiemławki Wielkie

Kiemławki Wielkie ( German United Kämlack ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. It belongs to the mayor's office in the municipality Podławki Barciany, powiat Kętrzyński.

Geography

The village is located eight kilometers northwest of the city center Kętrzyns about 70 meters above the sea level. Barciany located at the same distance north of Kiemławki Wielkie. About 20 kilometers north runs the border of Poland to Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. Through the village of Rawa river flows.

History

Today's Kiemławki Wielkie was localized under the name Kelmolauken 1340. The name refers to the vegetation: Old Prussian " kelmis " ( hat), Lithuanian " kelmas " ( collective term for mushrooms, tree stumps, hollow tree, but also for all the plants that are in the ground or planted ) and " Laukas " ( Acker, field). There were at the time here three manors of the Teutonic Order and a fief by Kulm law. In 1785 there were in the village of three residential buildings, in 1817 there were four in which 58 people attended. In May 1939 there were 172 inhabitants. In January 1945, the Red Army occupied the area and Kiemławki Wielkie came as a result of the Second World War with Poland. 1970 99 people lived in the village. Three years later, after the Gromadas had been dissolved, the village was part of the Schulz Office Kiemławki Małe in the community Barciany. When in 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship was dissolved, the village came to the newly formed Province of Warmia and Mazury.

By Kiemławki Wielkie performs a secondary road that leads to the southwest after four kilometers at Banaszki in the Province Road 592 ( droga wojewódzka 592 ). To the north, the road splits. In the northeast it then flows into Winda in the Province Road 591 in a northwesterly direction to pass through the villages Kiemławki Małe Kąpławki and Wilkowo Małe before it hits the Province Road 590 after about eight kilometers in Wilkowo Wielkie.

Kiemławki Wielkie does not have its own rail connection. The nearest train station is located in the eight kilometers south Kętrzyn.

The nearest international airport is the Kaliningrad airport about 90 kilometers north of Kiemławki Wielkie on Russian territory. About 190 kilometers to the west lies the Lech Walesa Airport Gdansk, which is the nearest international airport on the territory of Poland. The airport Szczytno - Szymany is located about 110 kilometers south of Kiemławki Wielkie this but has adjusted its operations in late 2006.
