Kieran Phelan

Kieran Phelan ( born November 19, 1949 in Raheen Upper, Donaghmore, County Laois, † 26 May, 2010 Dublin) was an Irish politician.

After school he worked as a farmer and later as an auctioneer. Phelan, a member of the Fianna Fáil was initially started his political career in local politics when he was elected to the Laois County Council in 1991. From 1998 to 1999 he was its chairman.

After he had in 1997 unsuccessfully for a seat in Seanad Éireann, the upper house of the Irish Parliament, a candidate, he succeeded in 2002, feed in the 22th Seanad Éireann. 2007 was his re-election to Seanad Éireann 23.

Phelan was married and had five children.
