Kika (retailer)

The kika Möbelhandelsgesellschaft m.b.H. is an Austrian furniture retail home and family. The company is headquartered in St. Pölten.

The company is located since the fall of 2013 wholly owned by the South African Steinhoff Group.

History

Opened in 1973 Herbert Koch, son of Rudolf Leiner Junior, first kika furniture house Kreilplatz in Vienna - Heiligenstadt. The concept ( "Cash and Carry" / self pick-up ) was in Austria new and successful. From the original deadweight market " full service " store is now created with a wide range and power spectrum, ranging from entry-level price segment to high- value product ranges.

17 and 32 kika Leiner furniture stores were opened in the Austrian market since the start-ups. In 2000, the expansion with the kika was continued internationally. The focus of expansion is on the Central and Eastern European markets. There are currently seven sites in Hungary, six in the Czech Republic, two in Slovakia, three in Croatia, and one in Romania. Opened in Prague in June 2005 kika furniture store, with over 31,000 square meters, the largest furniture store in the Czech Republic. In April 2006, the first kika furniture store in Croatia was opened in Zagreb. It is the largest Möbel-/Einrichtungshaus in Croatia. In December 2008 the first kika furniture store in Bucharest / Romania was opened.

With "k - franchise " kika also acts as franchisor and, once opened, so that two stores in Riyadh and Dhahran in Saudi Arabia.

The chain was named in 2005 as the best online shop in Austria.

From the Logistics Centre in St. Pölten, which has almost 100,000 m² of warehouse space and 30,000 Regal pitches, all kika furniture stores are supplied. 41,000 m³ goods are shipped, on average, per month.
