Kim Won-il

Kim Won- il ( born March 15, 1942 in Gimhae, in the sub-province Keisho - nando, Chosen Province, at that time the Japanese Empire, present-day South Korea ) is a South Korean writer who has won many literary awards. Many of his works have been translated into English, French and German language.

Life

His father was a communist activist, who retired in the already politically communist -dominated northern part of the Korean peninsula and Kim Won- il and his mother and siblings left behind alone in the south. Not only the position of a deserted wife was there at that time very poor, but also that of their children. Then there was the political pressure, as the family was due to the political sentiments of the father constantly spying. He studied at the Daegu - Agriculture - High - School, and finally literature in bachelor's degree program at the University Sorabol and Yeungnam University, and then Korean literature in the master 's program at Dankook University. He belonged to the first generation of Japanese colonial rule, which again Hangeul, the Korean script learned. He experienced the April Revolution in 1960 actively.

In 1966 he won with his short story Algeria in 1961 a contest of Daegu Daily, this was at the same time his debut as a writer. The following year, his story festival of darkness in the Hyeondae Munhak was published.

Since 2013, Kim worked in the Creative Writing Department at Sunchon National University, where he worked with the Korean poet Kwak Jae -gu.

Family

His brother Kim Wonu is also active as a writer.
