Kim Wonu
Kim Wŏn -u ( born April 11, 1947 in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam -do) is a South Korean writer.
Life
Kim Wŏn -u, born Kim Wŏn -su ( 김원수 | 金 源 守), came on April 11, 1947 in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam -do, to the world. After his degree in English Literature at the Kyungpook National University, he studied at the Sogang University until his master.
He made his literary debut in 1977 with the narrative Office ( 임지 ), a scathing critique of philistinism and commodity fetishism, omnipresent in the Korean middle class. His character have no or little individual character and can only through the constant pursuit of profit must find fulfillment in their lives. They are so busy with the immediate, material satisfactions that they do not notice the sterility of their lives. Kim often used because of an agent from outside, which takes over the role of mediator.
Since, however, a certain thoughtfulness that permeates Kim's literature and this quality has much to do with the personal experiences which he incorporates into his stories. The falsehood and hypocrisy that underlie the success of the middle class rhetoric to reason, are also a part of his life; the weariness that comes from the everyday routine, can be seen in the memories of his childhood. Therefore, Kim's critical voice conveys something thick -headed and at the same time but honest.
