Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari

Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari (Japanese君 の 知ら ない 物語, GV " The story that you do not know ") is a J-pop song of the Japanese Group Supercell, written by Ryo. Supercell it posted on her debut single with Sony Music in August 2009. Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari was the title credits of the anime series Bakemonogatari, while the B - side Love & Roll was the theme song of the anime movie Cencoroll. To play a music video was produced and directed by Hirohisa Sasaki. Thematically is the song of unrequited love.

The single was the first release by Supercell, in which not the Vocaloid singing synthesizer Hatsune Miku has been used as a singer, such as with their debut album Supercell. Instead Supercell could win the singer Nagi for themselves that set previously under the name Gazelle cover versions on the video site Nico Nico Douga.

The reached # 5 in the Oricon weekly singles chart, and was awarded in February 2010 with 100,000 copies sold within one year of the gold status of the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

Genesis

During the production of the anime series Bakemonogatari 2009 Supercell was offered to compose the end credits title. It was already planned the Supercell released their self-titled debut album in March 2009, where she has formed the Vocaloid singing synthesizer Hatsune Miku used as a singer. Instead of Miku Supercell was the singer Nagi win, previously hired cover versions on the video platform Nico Nico Douga under the name Gazelle. Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, making it the first release by Supercell the unused Miku as a singer. Nagi was selected for Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari by supercells composer and lyricist Ryo, who was a fan of her voice before he started in late 2007 in order to upload his pieces on Nico Nico Douga. Around the next day after Ryo supercells first song Melt hochlud on NicoNico Douga in December 2007, Nagi did the same with a cover of her from this piece. Nagi, turn fan of Ryo's music, contacted him and they both talked about wanting to work together someday. Their first collaboration was then Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari are, where Nagi was also the singer for supercells second album Today Is A Beautiful Day. Nevertheless, it is not officially a member of Supercell.

To go on a human singer said Ryo " that although he lose absolute control over the sound for each phase working with a singer adding a human element, the better resoniere with the audience ." After Ryo Hatsune Miku used for the demo Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, he thought at first that the range would exhaust a human singer, ended up being delighted that Nagi had the same vocal range as Miku.

Composition

Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari is a J-pop song with instrumentation by electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and piano. According to a study published by Yamaha Music Media score the piece in 4/4-time in A Major is set at a tempo of 165 bpm. The intro starts with a piano accompanied by Nagi's voice and then uses a bridge at the guitar and drums are added to be reconciled to the first verse. Another bridge is used between the first and second verse, but use a different text both have the same music. After the third verse a break is used, followed by the fourth stanza. After a short outro an instrumental coda is used to complete the song. As Ryo wrote the lyrics he wanted to use neither the sound nor the style of the underlying Bakemonogatari novels because he felt that the author Nisio Isin would appreciate a more original piece more. Therefore, he wrote another story with bonds from the general plot of the novels. The song's lyrics are about a girl with an unrequited love that could never be her beloved person convey their feelings.

The cover uses an illustration of the summer triangle in the night sky by Shirow Miwa. The Summer Triangle also finds mention in the second stanza song, just like the stars watching runs through the entire lyrics. The artistic direction and design submitted by Yoshiki Usa. Both are members of Supercell. Ryo played Miwa Usa and the piece before and previously described roughly its subject matter, but left them in the graphic design full freedom.

Publication and reception

Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari was released on August 12, 2009 in a limited edition and a regular version on CD by Sony Music in Japan. The limited version also contained a DVD with a music video and a television commercial to Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, as well as stickers with illustrations from Supercell Member redjuice the characters from Bakemonogatari represented. The song reached # 5 in the Oricon weekly singles chart and sold over 30,000 times in the first week. The following week it stayed in the top 10 at number 6, and remained on the charts for 66 weeks. In January 2010, Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari received the Gold status of the Recording Industry Association of Japan ( RIAJ ) for 100,000 sold music downloads on mobile phones ( Chaku Uta Full), and in February 2010 a gold record for selling 100,000 physical copies within a year.

Music Video

The music video was filmed in the town of Choshi, whereby the Tokawa station of Choshi Denki - tetsudō line and the lighthouse Inubosaki are visible. Director of the video was Hirohisa Sasaki. In the video, neither a member of Supercell nor the singer Nagi occurs, but instead the actor Marika Fukunaga, Shuto Tanabe and Naho Kitade, who play members of a high school astronomy clubs in addition to five other people. Fukunaga, Tanabe and Kitade are in a love triangle with the Fukunaga feelings for Tanabe has, in turn, wants to start a relationship with Kitade. Time passes of the summer holidays for graduation. Tanabe are Fukunaga as a parting gift a popsicle stick with his address in Tokyo where he wants to draw and to say goodbye at the train station by Kitade, being indicated that he has separated from this and now want to start a new relationship with Fukunaga.
