Kirsten Klose

Kirsten Münchow ( 2002-2007 Kirsten Klose, born January 21, 1977 in Auetal - Rehren ) is a German hammer thrower.

Kirsten Münchow occurred since 1994 in national competitions and at the first international competitions in the hammer throw was already 1997, the women to the starters. She was at that time one of the dominant hammer throwers in Germany. In 1998, she increased in April the German record to 66.82 m. In August 1998, she won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Budapest with a width of 65.61 m, only beaten by the former world record holder Mihaela Melinte and its predecessor Olga Kusenkowa. She was second in the U23 European Championships with a distance of 63.68 meters in 1999. She qualified for the World Athletics Championships in Seville in 1999 and reached the final battle there, but could not fully exploit with a width of 64.03 m her performance and was eighth. At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, they missed the final battle and was 64.39 m in the final ninth.

Between the two world championships in 2000 Münchow had its strongest year with the biggest success of her career. She won the bronze medal at the Olympic debut of women's hammer throw at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney with the German record of 69.28 m. This distance, at the same time personal best until today (as of 2012) is the fifth best width of a German hammer thrower. In addition to the international success it secured in 2000 and 2001 the title at the German championships.

Kirsten Münchow is 1,72 m tall and weighed 75 kg in the competition. She is a trained shop window advertising designer and belonged to sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr. She graduated from training as a physiotherapist. Münchow launched first for the LG Porta Westfalica, then for TuS Eintracht Minden, from 2000 for the LG Eintracht Frankfurt, where she trained at the later national coach Michael Deyhle, and finally for the SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken. In 2002 she married the hammer thrower Holger Klose; she became the mother of a son on June 14, 2002. After divorcing her husband in 2007, she took back her maiden name, and moved back to their homeland in Eastern Westphalia. Since then she starts again for TuS Eintracht Minden. Although she describes herself only as a hobby athlete, she still occurs despite greatly reduced volume training, participate in competitions at national level. 2008 their best jump was 64.83 m, 2009, it achieved 62.60 m. 2012 won Münchow for VfR Evesen starting the title in the hammer throw at the North German Championships with a distance of 57.64 m.
