Kirsten van der Kolk

Kirsten Irene Merian van der Kolk ( born December 18, 1975 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch rower who won the 2008 Olympic gold medal in the double sculls of lightweight rowers.

The 1.72 meter tall Kirsten van der Kolk from the Amsterdam Student Association Nereus entered the World Cup 1998 in Lucerne still in the coxless pairs at, Marit van Eupen with them in third place. 2000 the two sat in the double sculls and reached at the 2000 Olympic Games sixth place. After a fifth place finish at the 2001 World Championships came Kirsten van der Kolk, 2002 at the One and finished sixth at the World Championships. In 2003, she returned to the double sculls and won with Marit van Eupen at the World Cup in Lucerne, at the World Championships, the two occupied but only sixth place. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she won the bronze medal.

Marit van Eupen As of 2005, went to the One and won three times in a row at the World Cup. Kirsten van der Kolk paused at this time and brought a child into the world. In 2007 they returned and came at the World Championships with the sculls sixth place. For the Olympic season 2008, she sat down again to Marit van Eupen in the double sculls and finished second at the World Cup in Lucerne. In the Olympic final in Beijing, the two won by just over a second ahead of the Finns.
