The Small Arber in the Bavarian Forest is 1383.6 m above sea level. NHN, the highest mountain in the Upper Palatinate. The border with Lower Bavaria runs on its summit and those of the east situated Großer Arber ( 1455.5 m above mean sea level, . Thereby provides a natural barrier to the west from the summit cross with 1439.6 m the highest point of the Upper Palatinate is ).

On the rocky summit stands a stately wooden cross with summit log, the view extends over the Lamer angle to the Zellertal.

Geography

The summit from the Small Arber located in the municipalities of the village in the north Lohberg in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham and located in the south of ground corn in the Lower Bavarian district of rain.

On the Small Arber has many walking among other things, ground corn, the little Arbersee or Schareben, also the European long-distance hiking trail runs from the E6 Kaitersberg to Falkenstein over the summit.

To the east just below the summit is the Cham hut. It was built in 1952 by the section Cham in the Bavarian Forest Association and thereafter operated as a restaurant. In 1956 she took over the German Youth Hostel Association and built it from the hostel. Since 1999, no longer farmed, it was re-opened on 20 December 2008 in the mountain hut.
