Kleinniedesheim

Kleinniedesheim, Pfälzisch Klänidsem or often only Nidsem, is a municipality in the Rhein- Pfalz-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. With about 900 inhabitants, it is the smallest municipality in the Rhein- Pfalz -Kreis and the only one that has less than 1000 inhabitants. It belongs to the municipality Heßheim.

History

Chronicle

Kleinniedesheim is a Franconian town founded in the 6/7 Century and was first mentioned in 1190 in the fief directory of Werner II of Bolanden as Uzelnheim. In the 16th century, the name on Ützelheim, Nützelheim, Nitzelsheim had changed to Nittelheim. Because of the similarity of names and same story with Nittesheim both places took the same name to small with distinction by the wholesale and prefixes.

The story of Kleinniedesheim corresponds largely with Großniedesheim. Until 1969, the village belonged to the former district of Frankenthal.

Population Development

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " In gold, a green oak branch with two green acorns and a green oak leaf ".

It goes back to the common court seal of wholesale and Kleinniedesheim from the 15th century and refers to the oak branch on the former local government of the Lords of Falkenstein.

Structures

The Kleinniedesheimer Castle ( from kinship reasons, also called provost Maudraisches Castle ) was built in the years 1733-1735 by the Electoral Cologne Privy Council of steffne and sold by his son to Carl Christoph von Gagern. It had since been frequently changing owners. Today, the southern part of the castle and the castle belongs to the Western church family whose ancestors originate from Amsterdam. The Italianate pavilion in the palace garden now serves as a registry office and is a landmark Kleinniedesheims.

The Protestant church was built in the years 1725/26 and was renovated in 1966.

The old parish hall was built in 1766. Today the municipality is located in the castle.
