Dudenhofen

Dudenhofen is a municipality in the Rhein- Pfalz-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It is the administrative seat of the homonymous municipality to the next Dudenhofen the local churches Hanhofen and Harthausen belong. Dudenhofen is recognized as a basic center in accordance with state planning.

History

1156 Dudenhofen is first mentioned in a charter of Frederick Barbarossa in the spelling of " tooting Hoven ". Since 1392 the present notation is demonstrated. Finds in the district Duden Hofens prove settlement remains from the Roman period and the time of the Frankish conquest, so that the foundation of the settlement at the time of written mention certainly lagged several centuries. The grave goods of a Frankish cup fall is attributed to the 8th century AD.

974 by Emperor Otto II the jurisdiction of the towns of Speyergaus to which the settlement is to be expected due to their proximity to the city of Speyer, subordinate to the Diocese of Speyer. Until the dissolution of the existing power relations in 1797 by connecting it to the French Republic Dudenhofen belonged to the Bishopric of Speyer. However, this affiliation was not always without controversy, since its political independence in 1294 claimed the city of Speyer sovereignty over Dudenhofen, but never tried to enforce this claim.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " Azure, a silver cross, the upper arm is extended and drawn out to a stylized crookedness rechtshin ".

It was established in 1962 approved by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Interior and goes back to a court seal from 1744., But that was "bent Creutz " already used in 1715 on Duden Hofener landmarks.

Previously, the coat of arms was introduced in 1845, but with the arbitrary specified colors black and silver. As the place long belonged to the Bishopric of Speyer, now the colors silver and blue were chosen. The flag is quartered blue and white.
