Klewno, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Klewno ( German Klawsdorf ) is a village in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The village is the seat of the homonymous Schulz ministry in the community Reszel.

Geography

The village is located about one kilometer northeast of the city center Reszels about 130 meters above sea level. Kętrzyn is located 13 kilometers east of Klewno. About 30 kilometers north runs the border of Poland to Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast.

History

The village was ( pr. Gedian: bushes ) in the field of Old Prussian territory Lauchogede on November 1, 1336 located. The name has a vegetation with maple trees ( lett Kļava, lit. Klevas ). The founders, klausio and Susik received 60 hooves land and exemption from taxes for ten years. The settlement went ahead very slowly and only in 1586 the total available land was farmed. In the 18th century the village was named Claus village, but this changed in the following centuries Klawsdorf from pruzzischen name Clawke or Klawke.

1847 Aleksander Droz was the owner of the village. 1935 there was a school in the village with two teachers and 118 students.

At the end of the Second World War the area and thus Klewno was occupied by the Red Army. As a result of the war, the village was part of Poland. On 17 July 1945, it was the seat of a rural community with eleven offices Schulz. The municipality covers an area of ​​10,940 hectares on which 2,010 people lived. Was head of community Aleksander Karpowicz.
