Knappensee

Knappensee, Upper Sorbian Hórnikečanski JĘZOR, from 1995 to 2004, a municipality in Saxony, southeast of the city Hoyerswerda. She was named after the Knappensee, on whose southern shore it lay. After the dissolution of the district Hoyerswerda it was since 1 January 1996 in the district Kamenz. Since the district reform in Saxony in 2008, all three places in the enlarged district of Bautzen.

The municipality was created on 1 October 1995 from the merger of the municipalities United Särchen, Koblenz and Warta. Nine years later the church was dissolved on January 1, 2005. The major districts Särchen and Koblenz remained in the district Kamenz and were integrated into the community Lohsa. The district Bardo was incorporated into the municipality Königswartha in the district of Bautzen. With the dissolution of the community was also the administrative community Wittichenau, which belonged to the city and the community Wittichenau Knappensee dissolved.

At the end of 1995, the municipality had 1910 inhabitants. By the end of 2000, this number rose steadily to 2100, after which it fell by the end of 2004 to 2041 inhabitants.
