Kodwo Eshun

Kodwo Eshun (born 1967 in London, United Kingdom) is a British writer and journalist. In his texts he deals with topics such as "Black Identity " Afro Futurism and the African diaspora.

Life and work

Eshun was born in London in 1967. He studied English Literature at University College, University of Oxford.

In 1998 his work More Brilliant than the Sun: Adventures in Sonic Fiction, in which Eshun deals with electronic Afro-American music. The German translation by Dietmar Dath Brighter Than the Sun: Adventures in Sonic Fiction was published by the ID -Verlag, 1999. Accompanying appeared that produced by Franz Pomassl album Architectronics.

Together with Anjalika Sagar founded Eshun 2002, the artist collective the Otolith Group. He writes regularly for magazines such as Frieze, iD, The Wire and Sight and Sound. Eshun teaches at Goldsmiths, University of London in the specialist Aural And Visual Culture.

His younger brother Ekow Eshun is also active as a writer.
