Kokane

Kokane (actually Jerry Long, Jr.) is an American P-Funk singer, rapper and songwriter from California.

Career

Kokane, son of Motown composer Jerry Long was connected since the emergence of gangsta rap sharply with the hip- hop scene of the U.S. west coast. Consequently, he wrote in 1991 his first contract with Eazy- It label, Ruthless Records. There he wrote at first with NWA song Appetite For Destruction and worked on Above The Law's album Black Mafia Life. His first solo single, Nickel Slick Nigga was released on the soundtrack of Deep Cover, and on his - also in 1991 published - debut album Who Am I? . In 1994 his second album Funk Upon A Rhyme, which however did not sell ( even though it was with 54th place as the top position in the U.S. Top R & B / Hip- Hop Albums chart of Billboard magazine, his most successful ) to his satisfaction. Of these, frustrated, he took a five-year break from the music business, which was interrupted only by the occasional short guest appearances on other artists' works. In 1999, he came, however, with his third album They Call Me Mr. Kane (now on Eureka Records) back, but that could also get little attention. That chance came, however, when he had made ​​an appearance on Dr. Dre's most successful album in 2001. This meant that he was taken by Snoop Dogg for his label Dogg House Records and Snoop Dogg's album he helped on Tha Last Meal in 8 out of 19 songs, mostly as a singer in the chorus. 2005 and 2006 was followed by two more albums, Mr. Kane, Pt. 2 and Back 2 Tha Clap, and in between, also in 2006, the album The Hood Mob, which he recorded together with Cricet and Contraband.
