Kolíňany

Kolíňany ( until 1948 slovak " Koleňany "; Hungarian colon) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1577 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Nitra, a part of the Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

The community is located at the junction of the Danube hills in a spur of the mountain Tribeč. The current flowing through the village Bach Bocegaj feeds the small reservoir Kolíňany below the church. The center is located at an altitude of 199 m nm and eleven kilometers from Nitra away.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1113 in the Zoborská documents as Colin and the associated parish in 1156 writing. After the year 1253 the village belonged to different noblemen. 1828 are 111 houses and 772 inhabitants recorded, who were employed in farming and lime burning. Furthermore, viticulture is significant.
