Kolkata International Film Festival

The Kolkata Film Festival is held annually in November in the Indian city of Kolkata instead.

The film festival lasts seven days and attracts around 100,000 spectators. There is no international competition.

Since 1995, the festival is organized annually. However, there was in 1952 an international film festival in Kolkata, which dates back to the founding of a Film Society in 1947. The city was also the first in 1907 in India, when a fixed theater was built. From time immemorial, Kolkata is also one of the centers of the Indian film industry, especially for films in Bengali.

While the other two major film festivals in India, which have International Film Festival of India ( Goa ) and the International Film Festival of Kerala, specializing in Asian or African and Latin American films, films from Europe and North America are shown in Kolkata.

These three festivals are the only ones in India, accredited to the international film producers association FIAPF.
