Kollafjørður

Kollafjørður [ ˌ kɔtla FJO ː ɹʊɹ ] ( Danish name: Kollefjord ) is a place of the Faroe Islands on the island of Streymoy.

Kollafjørður is located on the fjord of the same name and extends there through about 10 kilometers of the coast. Administratively, it is part of the capital Tórshavn.

Here was at least since the Middle Ages a local Thingstätte, the so-called Várting. In the village is one of the ten Faroese wooden churches. It dates from the year 1837.

The bank robbery of Kollafjørður

In January 1985, it came in Kollafjørður first known bank robbery in the Faroe Islands. Two perpetrators demanded all of the money to the local bank and were able to escape.
