Kongola is a village and the administrative seat of the homonymous constituency in the Caprivi region in northeastern Namibia, near Angola and Zambia to the north and Botswana to the south.

Geographical location

Kongola lies to the east of the river Cuando ( Kwando also ), which crosses here the Caprivi Strip from north to south on a flood-proof waterfront terrace. To the west of the river is bordered Kongola to the Caprivi National Park, the Mudumu National Park is located about 40 km to the south and to the regional capital of Katima Mulilo, there are 118 kilometers to the east.

Transport and Infrastructure

Kongola is an important stop on the National Road B8, the Trans- Caprivi Highway, which crosses here with the Kongolabrücke the Cuando, the only bridge across the river to hundreds of kilometers. There is a gas station and a number of accommodation options. The place is on the M125, which branches off to the south here on the B8, a starting point for trips to the Mudumu National Park. West of the Cuando Kongola has an airfield.
