Konrad V Kantner
Konrad V. of Oels ( Konrad V. " Kanthner "; * 1381/1387; † September 10, 1439 ) was from 1412 until his death in 1439 together with his brothers duke of oil which Cosel, Steinau and semi Bytom. He came from a branch of the Silesian Piast Glogau.
Life
His parents were Conrad III. of Oels († 1412 ) and Jutta / balances, its origin is not known. His marriage to Margaret NN ( † 1449/50 ), whom he married in 1411, came from the children
Konrad V. had four brothers who also wore the name Konrad, which is why they are referred to in order to distinguish individual epithets, and two sisters. Conrad V. epithet of " Kanthner " is derived from the city Kanth, which was owned by the Oelser Dukes in 1379.
After the death of the father Conrad III. 1412, younger brothers were first under the guardianship of her eldest brother Conrad IV "senior"; he first took over the joint government of the duchies of oil which Cosel and Steinau and semi Bytom. Even after 1416 made formal division of the paternal inheritance, the brothers managed their territories partially together. Since Conrad IV, "senior", Konrad VI. " Dean " († 1427) and Konrad VIII " the boy " the clergy belonged, Konrad V. " Kanthner " and Konrad VII practiced "Old White " the regency, and therefore were beneficiaries of inherited possessions. Once it became Conrad IV "senior" in 1417 Bishop of Breslau, he bought his office himself and his brothers Kanth from which he pledged the cathedral chapter to mitigate the financial difficulties of his brothers as well as the episcopal mensa. 1431 Konrad founded V. " Kanthner " and Conrad "Old White " in Cosel a Minoritenkloster. In 1434 they acquired from Legnica Duke Ludwig II Konstadt.
As you episcopal brother Conrad IV "senior" fought Konrad " Kanthner " and Conrad "Old White " the Hussites. In 1428 they tried unsuccessfully to prevent their depredations in the Duchy Opava. On April 4, 1431 they raided Gliwice, which was occupied by the Hussites and where just held religious talks in which Siegmund Koribut, a nephew of the Litauerfürsten Witold, was involved. Presumably, therefore, undertook the Hussites in 1432 a raid in the Duchy of oil, which was largely spared from them until then. Konrad " Kanthner " and his brother, however, managed to beat them at Steinau. Along with her brother Conrad IV, Senior, other dukes and the cities of Wroclaw, Schweidnitz and Neisse it notarized on September 13, 1432 for the Hussites still occupied cities Nimptsch, Cross Castle and Ottmachau still 10,000 groschen to be guilty.
Your use in the fight against Hussites rewarded Emperor Sigismund in his capacity as king of Bohemia in 1434 with the transfer of the duties of dog box and Hünern. 1437 he confirmed to them the investiture of their territories to the entire hand, so that the Bohemian ruler upon the death of the childless Konrad " the old whites" would be entitled to no escheat law. Two years later, Conrad died " Kanthner " of the plague. The guardianship of his not yet mature sons took over his brother Konrad "Old White ".
