Korçë County

The Qark Korçë (Albanian Qarku i Korçës ) is one of twelve Qarks in Albania. It is situated in south-eastern Albania and has an area of ​​3711 km ². The capital is Korçë.

Geography

The Qark Korçë consists of the circles Devoll, Kolonja, Korçë and Pogradec with the cultural city of Korca as historical, economic and administrative center. In the north east borders the Qark Korçë to Macedonia, Lake Ohrid and Prespa lakes that. In the east and south, the boundary of the circle also border with Greece. The whole area is very mountainous, only the plain of Korçë enables large-scale farm. In the spring Qark important rivers of central and southern Albania, the Shkumbin, Devoll and Osum.

The National Park Drenova with its significant population of brown bears and the National Park of Prespa with its species-rich wetlands form the largest natural attractions of the Qarks.

Southwest of Qarks is the Qark Gjirokastra, west of Berat County and northwest of Elbasan Qark.

Population

Politics and Administration

The Qark Council ( Alb. Këshilli i Qarkut ) counts 71 members. The majority belongs to the Democratic Party (PD ), which represents the presidency ends with Gëzim Demçolli.
