Koré Maïroua

Koré Maïroua is a rural municipality in the Department Tibiri in Niger.
Geography
Koré Maïroua lies in the large landscape Sudan and to the east by the neighboring state of Nigeria. The neighboring communities in Niger are Dogondoutchi in the north, Kiéché in the Northeast, the South and Tibiri Tombokoirey II in the West. The Wadi Dallol Maouri crosses the eastern part of the rural community. The municipality is divided into 30 administrative villages, 109 traditional villages, 31 hamlets and two camps. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Koré Maïroua.
History
The rural community Koré Maïroua went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Tibiri whose territory was divided among the rural communities Tibiri, Douméga and Koré Maïroua. Since 2011 part of the rural community not to Dogondoutchi Department, but for the newly created Department Tibiri.
Population
At the 2001 census Koré Maïroua had 42 592 inhabitants. For the year 2010 57.040 inhabitants was calculated. The population is made up of Hausa and Fulani. In addition to members of the Islamic faith there is a Christian minority living mainly in the administrative villages Dadin Kowa, Golo and Koré Maïroua.
Economy and infrastructure
In all the villages in the municipality of millet, cowpea, sorghum and peanuts are grown in the village of Zela also sugarcane. The livestock includes cattle, sheep, goats, camels, horses and donkeys. It is increasingly restricted by lack of grazing land. Koré Maïroua is located on the National Road 1, which here is part of the international highway Dakar - N'Djamena -highway, as well as on the National Road 2 by Farey and on the National Road 3 after Karguibangou. The three most important weekly markets are located in the administrative villages Koré Maïroua, Boureimi and Zela. With the neighboring country Nigeria cross-border informal trade is operated. The enrollment rate in the rural community is 59.6 %, 70.1 % in boys and in girls 49.2 %.
