Koronowo
Koronowo [ kɔrɔ'nɔvɔ ] ( German Polish crown or Crone on the Brda River, 1942-45 crown on the Brda River ), is a town of about 10,800 inhabitants in central Poland, located 23 kilometers north of Bydgoszcz. It is located on the River Brda ( Brahe ) and belongs to the powiat Bydgoski, Province Kujawy to.
The city Koronowo occupies an area of 2,818 hectares. Thus, it is the third largest city in the powiat Bydgoski to the towns of Bydgoszcz and Inowrocław.
History
Koronowo been since the Middle Ages seat of a Cistercian abbey (see Monastery Koronowo ), who brought German farmers and craftsmen from Westphalia and other Low German areas in the country. It was the northernmost town of the historic landscape Wielkopolska and consequently of 1795 or 1815 to 1920, the northernmost town in the Prussian province of Posen. Since 1815/18 Koronowo belonged to the district of Bromberg, in the 1920 and again in 1945 the powiat Bydgoski was. 1890 was the Polish population in the county at just over 30%.
