Kosta Barbarouses (born 19 February 1990 in Wellington ) is a New Zealand soccer player who also has Greek citizenship.

Club career

Barbarouses already played as a youth for Team Wellington in the New Zealand Football Championship and won the 2006 New Zealand Junior Championship. In 2007 he was taken from the newly formed A- League club Wellington Phoenix under contract. His professional debut was the striker in October 2007 against the Central Coast Mariners, but came to the end of the season only to two other stakes. In the 2008 /09 season he came to five league operations, while in January 2009, he scored his first goal against Adelaide United. After he had not gone in the season 2009/10 on the role of complement player, he rejected a contract extension and signed in February 2010 a three - year deal with Premier League rivals Brisbane Roar. After an outstanding season with Brisbane, where he contributed with twelve goals this season for the championship, he joined in the summer of 2011 to the Russian second division side Alania Vladikavkaz. For the 2012/13 season Barbarouses was on loan to the Greek first division club Panathinaikos Athens.

For the 2013/14 season Barbarouses moved back into the A-League for Melbourne Victory.

National

2007 Barbarouses qualified with the New Zealand U- 17 team for the U- 17 World Cup in South Korea. The tournament was a disappointment for the US-led Barbarouses selection, after the preliminary round had to leave again with 0 points and 0:13 gates. In the technical report of the tournament it is highlighted as the only player of his team and described as " dribbling and agile attackers ". A year later he missed with the U-20 surprisingly qualified for the Junior World Championships in 2009, as one behind Tahiti and New Caledonia only finished third.

On 19 November 2008, he was 18 years old in meaningless final game of the OFC Nations Cup ( and at the same World Cup qualifying match ) against the Fiji his international debut in the senior national team of New Zealand
