2008–09 A-League
The 2008/09 season was the fourth season of Australian professional football league A-League. Champion for the second time after 2007 Melbourne Victory with a 1-0 win over Adelaide United. Last year's champion Newcastle United Jets finished the season in last place. For the following season, two new teams have been with North Queensland Fury and Gold Coast United recorded in the league so that this season was the last time being with eight teams.

Before the start of the A- League season, the obligatory pre-season Cup was held.
Pre -Season Challenge Cup
The Pre -Season Challenge Cup 2008 took place as a leading high season in July and August. The eight A- League teams were divided into two preliminary round groups of four teams split up and played in a simple league round. The two group winners advanced in the finals and the winner played in a lot of.
The majority of the games were held in Australian cities without A- League team, to campaign for the league.
In the final set 8-7 Melbourne Victory on penalties against Wellington Phoenix.
