Kostolná-Záriečie

Kostolná - Záriečie is a municipality in the north- west of Slovakia with 652 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Trenčín, Trenčín Region a part of.

Geography

The municipality is located in the south of the valley landscape Považské podolie. The creek Drietomica, the downstream flows further into the Waag, separates the two districts from each other. The center is located at an altitude of 211 m nm and is eight kilometers away from Trenčín.

History

The municipality was created in 1952 by merging the independent places Kostolná ( Kostel German, Hungarian Vágegyháza - to 1907 Kosztolna ) and Dolné Záriečie ( until 1927 slovak " Zárieč "; Hungarian Alsózáros - to 1907 Zárjecs ).

The first settlements date back to the Bronze Age. After the district Hradište the existence of a site is suspected, but the lack of detailed investigation has yet to be proven.

The town itself was first mentioned in 1318 as Dregma writing, the stream already in 1244, shortly after the Mongol invasion. True to the name of the place at that time was closely associated with the church today Drietoma and was by late medieval sources of the sub-location. During the Oberort later named Drietoma, the sub-location to the 18th century as Kostolná Drietoma (1773 ) was known. In the late 16th century, the place Záriečie broke out. During the present town Kostolná belonged to the diocese of Neutra, Záriečie was part of the estates of the landed gentry, the early Zárjecs family. In both places Agriculture and distilleries were the main sources of income.

1828 are listed 23 houses and 214 houses in Kostolná 22 houses and 219 inhabitants, in Dolné Záriečie. On October 28, 1848 battle between the Honvéden and an imperial army took place in the wake of the Revolution of 1848/49 at Kostolná.
